The Huat Kueh Miniature Charm in Gingham

A fluffy fortune cake, dressed in gingham. The huat kueh is a Chinese New Year favourite, a steamed cake whose name echoes “huat,” to prosper. Here it’s shrunk to 0.8cm in width and 1.2cm in height, in a gingham cup. Wear it for luck all year round, or give it as a thoughtful Chinese New Year gift.

Handsculpted 100% by hand in Singapore
Each charm takes 2–3 hours to sculpt, texture, and finish by hand, by an artisan with 14 years of sculpting experience.

Materials

• Charm: US imported polymer clay, oven-baked at 138°C. Durable, lightweight, and waterproof once baked (see the video in this listing).
• Double-closure clasp: 18k white gold-plated (0.05 μm) over 925 sterling silver. Hypoallergenic and low-nickel, good for sensitive skin. Detachable and replaceable.

Care

• The charm can be worn in daily showers and short swims. Avoid very hot, steamy showers.
• Rinse under tap water after contact with grease, moisturiser, perfume, or sweat, then wipe dry.
• Avoid prolonged moisture, heat, and strong sunlight. Store somewhere cool, dry, and dark, such as an airtight container with charcoal.
• Plating generally lasts 6 months to 2 years, and the clasp can be swapped for a new one when it wears. Wash it gently with mild soap and water.
